ポショワールは、世紀の変わり目頃、特にフランスで人気があり、19世紀後半から1930年代にかけて最も流行し、パリがその活動の中心でした。1920年代から30年代のアールデコ時代には、フランス人がステンシルの着色プロセスを復活させ、書籍や版画の色表現プロセスを新たな高みへと導きました。
