Yayoi Kusama - Naoshima Red Pumpkin (Naoshima-limited Edition) (2019)

Provenance
Benesse Holdings, Inc., Naoshima
Directly sourced from Naoshima, Japan

This exclusive red pumpkin object is a rare collector’s piece, available only in Naoshima, Japan. Executed in 2019, it is a scaled-down version of Yayoi Kusama’s famous red pumpkin sculpture at Miyanoura Port in Naoshima. A true Naoshima-limited piece, it features “NAOSHIMA” stamped on the underside, signifying its exclusivity.

Each piece is meticulously handcrafted, with the small dots applied individually using a syringe, ensuring precision and uniqueness in every object. The pumpkin’s signature hollow openings, which allow visitors to walk inside the original sculpture, are beautifully represented through dented dots on the surface, capturing the essence of Kusama’s artistic vision.

While the object has a ceramic-like texture, it is made of polyresin, a lighter, more durable material that is less prone to breakage. However, excessive force may still cause cracks or damage.

Please note: Actual colors may vary slightly due to different device screen settings.
