Complete set of nine published study prints with original storage envelope, accompanied by the original hand-colored layout drawing for “The Home Emergency Center” card featuring Mickey Mouse and Goofy
Poison Safety, Study Prints Set No. 107, 1975
Provenance
From the Ken O’Connor Archive
Arthur Kendall “Ken” O’Connor (1908 — 1998) was an Australian-born Disney layout artist and art director. He joined The Walt Disney Studios in 1935 and worked as a layout artist or art director on 13 feature films and nearly 100 animated shorts. During World War II, he contributed to training and educational films produced by Disney for the U.S. government.
He was inducted as a Disney Legend in 1992.
Acquired through Heritage Auctions, The Art of Disney Signature® Auction #7408 — a landmark four-day sale dedicated to the artistry and legacy of Walt Disney and his creative contemporaries.
A complete 1975 Walt Disney Educational Media Poison Safety Study Prints set produced for elementary school classroom use, accompanied by the original layout drawing for the final card, “The Home Emergency Center.” The original artwork prominently features Mickey Mouse and Goofy and was used in the development of Disney’s educational safety materials.
The set consists of nine large-format, double-sided study prints. Each card presents a glossy illustrated front with instructional imagery and detailed educational text on the reverse, with pre-punched corner holes for bulletin board mounting.
The original layout drawing is executed in ink, graphite, and pastel on field animation paper, with animator’s notes along the top edge and the number “9” in the lower right corner. The image area measures approximately 11.75 × 7.5 inches.
The published study prints measure approximately 18 × 13 inches each and are housed in the original green vinyl storage envelope identifying the set as Study Prints Set No. 107. Together, the printed materials and original drawing document Disney’s educational production process and the continued use of Mickey Mouse and Goofy as cultural educators in the mid-20th century.
