    Takashi Murakami

    Japanese, b. 1962

Re: "Kujaku-Tachiaoi-zu Byōbu" After 40 Long Years, I Managed to Paint the Peacock Painting, the Encounter with Which Had Made Me a Painter

    2026

    Hand-Signed & Numbered Edition of 300
    Kaikai Kiki Studio Edition
Gold Foil Stamping & Coater Varnish Finish

Released in 2026 by Kaikai Kiki Co., Ltd. (Tonari no Zingaro) in Tokyo, this monumental edition stands as one of Takashi Murakami's most personal and introspective works. Reimagining Ogata Kōrin's masterwork four decades after first inspiring Murakami to pursue painting, the composition is meticulously produced using 4-color offset printing, gold foil stamping, and protective coater varnish.

    Sheet Size: 21.65 × 26.06 in (55 × 66.2 cm)
Medium: 4-color offset printing with gold foil stamping and coater varnish finish on archival paper
Signature & Edition: Hand-signed and numbered by Takashi Murakami in white marker; limited edition of 300

Condition: Pristine, mint original condition as issued by Kaikai Kiki Co., Ltd.

In this extraordinary composition, Murakami synthesizes traditional Rimpa school iconography with his signature Superflat philosophy and intricate flower motifs. A resplendent peacock boasting rainbow-feathered plumage stands against a radiant gold foil background, marking a monumental full-circle moment in the artist's career.

An indispensable museum-grade work for serious collectors of contemporary Japanese art and Takashi Murakami's graphic oeuvre.

Guaranteed authentic original Kaikai Kiki edition.
