French Costumes of the 18th Century
Original Mourlot Lithographic Poster, Paris, 1954–1955

A rare and elegant original exhibition poster, created for Costumes Français du XVIIIème Siècle, an exhibition organized by the Société de l’Histoire du Costume. The exhibition was held at the Musée Carnavalet in Paris from November 9, 1954, to January 9, 1955, within the museum’s beautifully preserved antique woodwork salons.

Printed in three tones at the legendary Mourlot studios, renowned for their collaborations with leading modern artists, this lithograph is based on a photograph by G. de la Bégassière, capturing the refinement and detail of 18th-century French fashion.

    • Printer: Mourlot, Paris, 1954
    • Technique: Lithograph in three tones
    • Dimensions: 26.4 × 17.7 in | 67 × 45 cm
    • Condition: Good

This poster stands as a striking testament to mid-20th-century French graphic design — at once an announcement and an artwork, bridging historical reverence with modern visual sophistication.
